It tasted very interesting-- it was spicy, lemony, and fishy all at once. The flavors were very different than I was used to, but I enjoyed that too. Cheese was my main staple, though, as cheese and potatoes are so popular, over here.

What music did I listen to this week?:

In my first week with my host family, I heard a lot of French and American pop music. I was really excited because I even knew some of the French songs my host sisters listened to. One of my favorite artists is a popular French rapper named Matre Gims. He was popular in Switzerland, too, and I noticed my host sisters listened to him often. I really liked finding out that I had something in common with my host sisters!

What activity was the most fun this week?:

This week was long, crazy and exciting. I spent so much time exploring the beautiful natural landscapes of Switzerland. I especially loved walking around Nyon-- it is such a cute and quaint town.

What did I read this week?:

This week I read a lot of introductory materials for my global health work classes. This might sound boring to some people, but I like learning about the environment, different countries, and how people from across the globe can join together to solve some of the toughest issues that our world faces. Learning about things like climate change, poverty, and disease can be hard for some people, but I'm encouraged because I know that the more I know about these topics, the more I can make a difference. On a lighter note, I also read some French short stories. I found some children's books in my host family's home, and reading them with my host sisters helped me learn new words and get used to speaking french.
