Spanish is the main language spoken here, some locals know English, but it is not very often that I find someone who speaks English with me. However, the Spanish in Argentina is not consistent with the rest of South America. They have many similarities with Spain, including the use of "vos". Vos is a different, lesser-known form of "you" that I have only heard in Argentina and Spain.
The money in Argentina is called "pesos." Today, three U.S. dollars is equivalent to about 1,000 pesos. So when you look at a price tag, it will say $3,000 which definitely gave me a heart attack before I got used to that here!
A bottle of water costs about 200 pesos from a convenience store. This is equivalent to $1.85 U.S. dollars.
This week, I went to a bodegon, which just means a neighborhood restaurant where you can get more food for less money. I got a milanesa which is similar to a chicken fried steak with marinara sauce, and cheese and sausage on top. It was delicious!
