Our News

What music did I listen to this week?:

Taipei is a very musical city, so I heard lots of different songs this week. From riding the train to walking into a convenience store, there is always music wherever you go! Even just walking down the street, I heard classical music playing from the garbage trucks as they drive around to collect trash.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

I had a lot of fun getting to visit the different markets around the city to shop and try new foods. Besides checking out the many different night markets, I also got to explore jade markets, flower markets, fruit markets, and craft markets in every corner of the city. I'm so excited to share all of the fun souvenirs I bought with my friends and family back home!

What did I read this week?:

Aside from reading lots of signs to find my way around the city, I also finished reading A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

This weekend, my friends and I ran a half marathon in Taipei, which meant we got to explore the city on foot for about 13.1 miles!

Other news from this week:

This week, I talked to some of the local people and learned a few phrases in Taiwanese! If you want to say "hello", you can say "Li ho" (pronounced lee - huh), but if you're greeting a friend, you can say Jiah bah bey (pronounced jee-ah bah bway), which literally means "have you eaten yet?"
