What main languages are spoken here?:

Can you guess Serbia's main language? If you said Serbian, you would be correct! Over 88% of residents speak this language, but many people in Novi Sad speak Hungarian since Hungary is only a two-and-a-half-hour drive away. German, Czech, Romanian and many other languages are spoken as well. Some cities write their street signs in over four languages! Plus, most young people are fluent in English because they grew up watching American T.V. shows and movies.

Serbia is different to the United States because the people here use two alphabets, Latin and Cyrillic. We use the Latin alphabet when we write in English, and Cyrillic is a common alphabet used in other Slavic languages, such as Russian and Bulgarian. Here is my name written in Cyrillic: Џули

What type of money is used here?:

Serbia's money is called the Serbian dinar, and there are 100, 200, 500, 1000, and 2000 dinar bills. Don't be fooled by the 2,000 bills, though! They are equivelent to 20 United States dollars. It is easy to convert the SerbiandDinar to the United States dollar, since you just remove two zeroes from the end. Many Americans find Serbia more affordable than the United States and will go out to eat a lot or get haircuts while they are here.
