Some of my favorite songs were "Casi un Hechizo" by Jerry Rivera, "Prometo" by Fonseca, "Canto a la Vida" by Fonseca, "Pena por ti" by Luis Segura, "Caramelo" by Fernando Villalona, "Háblame mi vida" by Fernando Villalona and "Me enamoro de Ella" by Juan Luis Guerra.
The activity that was the most fun this week was creating pipe cleaner glasses with the kids. When I ran out of pipe cleaners, I started using twigs!
I read the kids a book about a mouse that disguised itself as a strawberry so that a bear would not find it.
I played dominoes with the neighborhood kids first, and then with the adults. I also had a lot of fun playing pool with a fellow Peace Corps volunteer who will soon be completing her service and a local Dominican.
On Saturday, I saw a beautiful sunset as I walked down an incline on my way from my friend's house. The power went out a few times this week. When that happens, I light a candle. There were a few days this week where I had to sleep without air conditioning because there was no electricity. When I first came to the Dominican Republic, that could be pretty challenging. Now, it is only a minor inconvenience. The internet also becomes very spotty in those moments with no electricity.
