North Macedonia has many different cultures and languages. The official language of North Macedonia is Macedonian. However, Albanian, Serbian and Turkish are also languages commonly spoken by the people of North Macedonia. All of these languages use the Cyrillic alphabet which was created by the Bulgarian Empire in the ninth century. The Cyrillic alphabet has letters that are completely different from the alphabet used in the English language. I use flashcards to quiz myself on the Cyrillic alphabet everyday. Although I have not memorized all of the Cyrillic letters, I am getting very close!
North Macedonia uses the Denar for their currency (money). One U.S. dollar equals about 54 Denars. Denars are very colorful and decorated with portraits of important North Macedonian people.
