I actually had a lot of fun during work this week! My work involves doing research into small parts of living things, and this can often be frustrating because these parts are too small to see. As a result, I have to depend a lot on pictures on a computer or just a bunch of numbers and math. This week, I found that the pictures and numbers that I was working with pointed to the same conclusion, which was exciting because it meant my understanding of these small parts was correct.
I was recently given a German children’s book by a friend to help me learn more German. It has helpful explanations of words in the book itself and uses simple language. The book is called “Die Kleine Hexe,” which in English means “The Little Witch.” It’s about a witch who is young by witch standards (only 100 years old!) and has a kind heart. She tries to do good deeds for the characters that she meets but gets laughed at by the other witches for not doing evil, “witchy” things instead. I was rooting for her the whole time I was reading!
I went bouldering with a friend at a nearby climbing gym this week. Bouldering is a specific type of indoor rock climbing where the climbing walls are limited to approximately 15 feet high. This makes it safe to climb without a harness because you will generally not be injured even if you fall from the top of the wall. However, it is still possible to get hurt. I strained some muscles in my back from landing wrong after falling near the top of the wall. Luckily the pain went away after a couple days!
