English is spoken in my community. Also, the local languages Twi and Ewe are spoken here. Twi is a common language spoken throughout Ghana that originates from the Ashanti people. Ewe is a language commonly spoken in the Volta Region by the Ewe people. My community is near the Volta Region, so that lanugage is commonly spoken here too. There are also some other languages spoken, such as Akposo, French, and Hausa. Many lanuages are spoken in my community, which can sometimes make it confusing!
The type of money, or currency, used here is called the Ghanaian Cedi. It was named after the cowry shell because that was what local people traditionally used as thier currency.
A bottle of water usually costs three cedis, which is approximately equal to 30 cents or 0.3 USD.
Last week, my friend sold me some rice with spaghetti, tomato sauce, and a hard boiled egg. It was very delicious!
I often like listening to Ghanaian music. Music is very popular in Ghana, and they have different genres here, such as gospel, high-life, rap, and hip hop. Many community members like to play really loud music! At church, community members will sing and dance while they worship, too.
