Our News

What activity was the most fun this week?:

The most fun activity was when our school had Sports Week last week. The entire community came together to support athletic competitions between the nearby schools. Students played football (soccer), handball, and volleyball. It was a great opportunity to interact with community members and younger students!

What did I read this week?:

I just finished reading a short novella written by Leo Tolstoy called The Death of Ivan Ilyich. I borrowed it from a library at the Peace Corps Office. It was a sad book, but it made me think about life and the importance of having strong relationships with others!

What games or sports did I play this week?:

During Sports Week, I helped coach and watch my students play football (soccer), handball, and volleyball. It was exciting when my school won their match! I also played chess with one of my students. I taught him how to play, and, now, he likes to come to my house to play with me.

Other news from this week:

Last week I visited my neighbor at the local clinic. She taught me many things about the clinic and how they weigh babies every Wednesday to make sure they are healthy. Also, there was a big funeral in my community last Saturday, and I went to pay my respects and greet community leaders, such as our chief and our assemblyman.
