Our News

I'm excited to make new friends and see what adventures we will have throughout the year!

What did I read this week?:

This week, most of my reading has been at museums or art exhibitions! Instead of reading novels or chapter books, I've been reading the information posted on museum walls next to paintings, sculptures, and other works of art. These descriptions help me understand who made the artwork, what it means, and why it is important. Since I'm studying art and art history in Germany, reading these little explanations helps me learn more about European artists, history, and different ways people express themselves through art.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

This week, I have enjoyed staying active by playing table tennis and going on long walks around Mainz. Table tennis is a fun way to spend time with other people, make new friends, and get a little friendly competition going. I also love going on long walks because they give me a chance to explore my new home here in Mainz. Sometimes, the best way to learn about a new place is to get outside and explore it on foot!

Other news from this week:

Something really cool about living in Mainz is that it is the hometown of Johannes Gutenberg! Hundreds of years ago, Gutenberg helped change how books were made by developing a printing method that used movable letters. Before printing was widespread, books were much harder and slower to produce. His invention helped more people get access to books and information. There is a museum just for Johannes Gutenberg and his invention.
