For some reason, I heard the Cotton Eye Joe song several times in public this week. It was actually created by a Swedish band, so maybe that's why it was played so much. Germans seem to really enjoy this song, although many don't know the dance that goes along with it in the United States. I had the pleasure of teaching a few of my friends the dance at a party a few weeks ago!
Apart from traveling and hanging out with friends, I had a lot of fun decorating my apartment this week! I finally had some free time last weekend, which I spent at IKEA buying cool lights for under my bed. I love how my bedroom looks now!
This week, I had fun reading a copy of the Frankfurter Zeitung, which is Frankfurt's local newspaper. I haven't been doing a lot of reading in German lately, so reading the newspaper was a bit of a challenge!
I did a lot of dancing this week! Whether it was at salsa class, going out with my friends or simply twirling around in the kitchen by myself, my feet couldn't seem to stop moving.
Last week, America celebrated Halloween, which isn't a recognized holiday in Germany. To keep from feeling left out, some of my friends put together costumes and organized a Halloween party of their own. It was like bringing a little piece of home to Europe!
