Castilian Spanish is the official language of Spain and is spoken everywhere. Catalan is spoken in all of Catalonia, which includes Barcelona. Galician is spoken in the north-western region of Galicia, and is very similar to Portuguese. Lastly, Basque is the oldest spoken language in Europe and is spoken in Basque Country province which borders Catalonia.
