Like the rest of Korea, the main language spoken in Gwangju is Korean.
The Korean won is still the main unit of currency.
A bottle of water costs about 1,000 won, or roughly 93 U.S. cents.
In the Boseong tea fields, many foods were either tea-inspired or green tea-infused! Thus, many meals I had grown accustomed to had a special twist: an added flavoring of green tea. For lunch, I had green tea savory Korean pancakes and green tea bibimbap (mixed rice). Afterward, we went shopping and ate green tea ice cream. I also bought my host family green tea cookies. I had no idea that so many foods could have green tea flavoring (or that they could all be delicious)!
My students have two favorite songs right now that I've been listening to on repeat: "Starry Night" by Mamamoo and "Love Scenario" by iKon. They're both very catchy, and I highly recommend giving them a listen.
