Some of the curries were so spicy I couldn't eat them! It also came with a dessert called gulab jamun, which is a ball of deep fried dough soaked in a sweet sugar syrup.
The research station hosted a Hungarian trio of musicians who played traditional music from Europe. There was a cellist, a violinist, and a man who played an instrument I had never seen before. I never got the name of it, but it was very different than anything I have seen before.
Meeting the other students was fun! Everyone I met was very friendly and welcoming, and it was interesting to learn about their research and hobbies.
This week I read papers relating to Indian honey bees for my research. I learned more about the differences between the three species I will be studying – the Eastern hive bee, the dwarf honey bee and the giant honey bee.
I didn’t play any sports this week, but NCBS has cricket, soccer, and badminton games every week. I’ve never seen a cricket game before, so I look forward to watching my fellow students play. A few of my friends have promised to teach me badminton. Have you ever played?
