The currency used in Belgium is the euro. Right now one euro is worth 1.07 U.S. dollars, so the conversion rate isn't terrible. It was hard for me to get used to the coins. In Europe, the five cent coin is bronze like a penny instead of silver like a nickel.
A bottle of water costs about one euro, depending on where you buy it. At a restaurant, a bottle of water will definitely cost you more. Also, most restaurants in Belgium will charge you for tap water.
The best meal I had this week (by far!) was the Belgian waffle I had in Brussels. I ordered one with Nutella and fresh strawberries. The best part was that it only cost me a couple euros. This was definitely the best waffle I've ever had. Belgium is also known for great chocolate and fries, so I made sure to indulge this week!
