There’s a lot to take away from these historical monuments and to learn from the past. We can also look at the present as well, and acknowledge that history is being made each and every day! In fact, just this year, Buddha’s birthday became an official holiday, and I got the day off from school! Korea is diverse in religion, and Buddha’s birthday is a nationally celebrated day in Korea. During this time, many temples are brightly lit up by many colorful lanterns and there are many parades, festivals, and water festivals that celebrate the occasion. While traveling, be sure to explore many different outlets (palaces, museums, religious sites, etc) to fully learn about a country’s culture.
