In the picture, it is out of its shell. While we were watching, it did stick its head and arms back into its shell. Our tour guide told us the turtle was very old.
Typically, I would be terrified of snakes and crocodiles if they were out in the open. Since they were enclosed, I was not scared. I also had a tour guide who was knowledgeable about the reptiles. That made me feel more comfortable. I have never been close or had the chance to hold a python, so that was exciting. It was also a bit nerve-wracking because this particular snake is very dangerous. I had the chance to see the Nile crocodiles eat their dinner. They eat baby crocodiles and other animals/reptiles for food. Truthfully, it is something I never want to see again.
The park has created glass cages for the snakes. Inside each box, there are mini trees, leaves and grass. It looks as if they are living outside in the wild. The pythons live in an enclosed cylinder that is open at the top. Since it is exposed to the outside, it has the natural elements of being outside. Crocodiles can live in freshwater or saltwater environments. The crocodiles at the park live in ponds. The African crocodiles and the Nile crocodiles live separately, but they both live in freshwater.
It is either hot or warm year round in Zambia. The water that the crocodiles live in allows them to cool themselves off. Most of the snakes hide in grass and trees to survive. For example, some of the snakes look similar to leaves. They use this similar appearance to hide from their prey.
