Others are able to climb trees and hide there as a survival technique. Since these reptiles live in a protected environment, they do not have to use their instincts to survive. The groundskeepers at the park make sure nothing attacks the reptiles. They also feed them and ensure they receive the things they need to survive.
Many other animals can kill snakes, including bobcats, birds or even other snakes. This is not a worry at the reptile park, since the reptiles are protected from the outside environment. Most of the snakes here are more dangerous to humans than we are to them. However, I learned that snakes are scared of humans but they only attack when they feel they are in danger.
Humans are the main threats to Nile crocodiles. Unfortunately, humans take water from the environment where crocodiles live to water their crops. Crocodiles do not have to stay submerged in water, but water helps them avoid extreme temperatures. It is hot in Lusaka, so the crocodiles depend on the water to cool. It can be hard for them to stay cool if the water levels are lower. Humans also hunt crocodiles, which endangers them. The crocodiles, like the snakes, are kept safe and protected at the reptile park.
