Unfortunately, I didn't travel that much due to a bad case of gastroenteritis. Make sure to take your probiotics when you go abroad! I only commuted to and from the university this week when I had class.
I traveled hundreds of miles so far, traveling to the south of the island to visit Tainan city, the old capital city with lots of heritage. I also visited small towns like Jiufen and Pingxi in the east. However, I'll be visiting some cool geological formations this weekend.
In Taipei, the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) metro system works wonders. I often take the metro to get to the university, switching lines as needed. At metro stations, there are a lot of escalators, where I got to notice a cultural phenomenon that I wasn't used to seeing in the U.S. By an unspoken rule, people who stand on the elevator will stand on the right side, to allow those in a rush to walk past on the left side. It is considered impolite to stand on the left side.
