Tokyo, as a truly cosmopolitan city, has foods from all over the world. From burgers to Greek, Indian and Cuban food, there are cuisines from many different countries. Japan is considered to hold one of the best standards for food quality in the world, so I enjoy always going out to eat. Price-wise, one can have a meal ranging from $5 to over $100, making it easy for people on any sort of budget to experience the cuisine Tokyo has to offer. The variety of food is immense and ranges from all sorts of seafood to land protein, vegetables, soups, noodles and rice and other cereals. There is also a far-reaching culture of fast and junk food here. For instance, I have tried shrimp chips and an electrolyte drink that is sold with the name brand of "sweat." Go figure.
What I like the most is finding stands with strange or interesting-looking foods. Japanese cuisine is known for its creativity and ingenuity in mixing and matching different flavors to create new dishes.
I have tried ramen and sushi, which are my two favorite foods in Japan. Ramen is a traditional Japanese dish made with noodles in broth with a variety of toppings like pork, egg, scallions and many other options. There are many different types of sushi, which is probably the most popular Japanese food in the United States.
