Ramen on a Rainy day

Introduction:

This past weekend we had a football game in Osaka. After the after the game we were so hungry and decided to get some ramen in Okayama City. Okayama City is two hours from Osaka, but only a 30-minute drive away from Kurashiki, and only a 12-minute train ride.

What food did I try?:

I tried ramen! Ramen is a common food that many people in Japan eat, and it can be served hot or cold. Ramen originated in Japan and is widely popular. I tried the miso ramen with a hard boiled egg, "chasu" or roasted pork and seaweed. All ramen is served with noodles, a broth or soup and different types of toppings.

How did I feel when I tried it?:

This was my first experience eating real ramen in Japan and it was incredible. The ramen was served extremely hot, but you must eat it immediately. If you allow it to cool down, the "soba" noodles will become soggy. In Japan when you eat noodles, you must loudly slurp the noodles to show that you enjoy them. Initially, I felt rude slurping the noodles loudly but everyone within the ramen shop slurped the noodles louder than I did. The noodles were absolutely delicious; the combination of the broth, the thick noodles and the roasted porked blended to create an incredible mixture of salty and sweet.

How is the food prepared?:

Soba noodles are often created in ramen shops and many other shops that sell noodles.
