Did you know, every year in Germany there is an official Jugendwort or "youth word"? It's selected by voting online and is actually quite a big deal among German youth classrooms. I read online this week that the 2025 Jugendwort was named "Das crazy" which translates to "that's crazy."
What is interesting to me about this year's Jugendwort is that it's actually not a German word, as it has been previously. To say "that's crazy" in German, you would often use "das ist verrückt." Since the whole world went online however, this year's Jugendwort - "Das crazy" - is likely a result of the heavy English influence on youth culture coming from the Internet. You never know what you'll find out when you read the news!
My favorite way to stay healthy is to go for runs. Luckily, my apartment in Leipzig is close to a big park, with lots of running paths that are parallel to a river. At this time of year, I really enjoy getting out of the house and running when there's nice weather, because you can see the leaves change colors! Right now, the leaves are a beautiful yellow and, later, they'll turn into a nice orange.
I started a new German language course this week!
