Vietnam is a bustling country filled from north to south with motorbikes and buses. Yes, people have cars, but they are a rare sight compared to the number of motorbikes and buses that are in the streets. Most families own at least one motorbike which provides them quick access to anything they need. Most people start riding motorbikes at the age of 18, but don't be surprised if you see a kid taking one for a joy ride! Around Vietnam, you will often see babies on motorbikes with their parents, or even whole families of five comfortably sitting on one bike! Many people use motorbikes in creative ways to transport items. Some of the most interesting things I have seen being carried on a motorbike include a live chicken, large paintings, flat-screen TVs, a bicycle, live goldfish, and even a dog!
Buses are used to get around long distances, such as from province to province. The ride can be very bumpy, slow and crowded, but they get you where you need to go!
Since cars are expensive in Vietnam, many families decide to buy motorbikes. Motorbikes are perfect for short distances and long distances. They are great for driving in mountains, valleys or rice fields. They can easily glide through rice fields and mountain tops and are a lot faster than a car or a bus.
