Life in Lyon: A New Perspective

How do you get around?:

Since Lyon is a relatively small city, I walk most of the time. I also like riding a bicycle through the Tête d'Or Park when the weather is nice. It is a good way to exercise and to be outside.

What types of clothing do you like to wear?:

Most mornings I decide to put on jeans, a blouse and a sweater. It keeps me warm but still allows me to be active and comfortable. I can walk outside and also do errands around the house. When I go outside, though, I always make sure I have my scarf! It's essential for the French.

What do you like to do in your free time?:

In my free time I like to cook. I make dinner every night and so I spend time every couple of days going to the grocery store, seeing what is fresh and picking out what to eat for the week. Sometimes preparing dinner can take the whole afternoon! My favorite thing to cook is quenelles, which is a Lyonnais specialty (quenelles typically have fish on the inside with a shell that resembles a giant pasta covered in a tomato sauce).

What language(s) do you speak? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

French! In France it is necessary to learn a second and third language as well. My second language (as with most students) was English, but I remember very little because it was a hard class. My third language was Spanish, which is very similar to French. Many words are the same so I can understand a little bit of Spanish even today.

Do you have pets?:

My husband and I do not have any pets but my grandchildren have a bunny at their house.
