Pamplona started to celebrate San Fermin in honor of San Fermin, a saint who is the Patron Saint of Pamplona.
The tradition is connected to the streets of Pamplona’s old town. The bull run originally began because butchers would bring the bulls from the ranches and accompany them through the streets to the bullring by running in front of them. Over time, the public began to run with the butchers and bulls.
