The main languages spoken in Rome are Italian and English with Italian being the official language of Italy. According to my tour guide in the Vatican, it is the Florence dialect of Italian that is recognized as the national language for all of Italy.
Since Italy is a member of the European Union, the type of money used here is the euro.
Usually a bottle of water costs 1 to 2 euros, which is about $1.50-$2.00. That being said, the restaurant where I had lunch on Saturday charged 8 euros for their bottle of water, which is the equivalent of $9!
The best meal I had this week was a pizza from this rooftop restaurant in Rome. The name of the pizza was Cinque Formaggi in Italian and translates to Five Cheeses in English. Initially, I thought it was five separate types of cheeses the pizza was cooked with, but it was actually one cheese that was a blend of five different cheeses and had, as a result, a unique and delicious flavor. Cinque Formaggi was the best pizza I have had in my life!
