I traveled over 2,700 miles this week with my trip to Rome!
I have traveled a little over 8,000 miles on this journey so far.
In order to get to and from Rome, I flew in an Airbus, which is a plane typically used for regional travel and short international flights. While in Rome, I got around on foot because it allowed me to experience everything around me and soak everything in. I could have taken a taxi, but walking gave me the time to walk around and truly appreciate all the history that surrounded me in the Eternal City, such as the Pantheon and the Roman Colosseum.
I thought about this for a while and could not pick just one place, so I settled on the Sistine Chapel and the Roman Colosseum. First, I toured the Colosseum in the morning of my first day in Rome. My tour began with entering the Colosseum through the entrance originally used by the gladiators during the ancient days of the Roman Empire when the Colosseum hosted a great public spectacle with over 70,000 people in attendance daily. I looked up at the seats from a partially reconstructed arena floor and tried to imagine what it was like for gladiators to have thousands of eyes looking down on them and cheering them on in their battles.
