Our News

My favorites are Ima Galguén from Spain, Aguis Mahasnik Biman from the Sudan, Muengue Mwa Ndolo from Camaroon, Assode from Nigeria, Tarika from Madagascar, and Susana Baca from Peru. How many of these artists do you know? I challenge you to find each of their countries on a world map, and then to see if you can find any of their music online! I bet you would like some of them! I also listened to rock music from the 1980s and classical music.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

As a passionate geogolist and explorer, I have a lot of fun describing sedimentary cores that are (in some cases) tens of millions of years old. I really enjoy trying to decipher their mysteries and secrets, reading the clue to learn about past climate and oceanic changes.

What did I read this week?:

This week, I was really focused on my research. This means that I was busily reading scientific papers about climate and oceanic changes that occurred in the same region that we are in now--the South Atlantic Ocean.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

We did not play games this week, although we did make casual bets on when the first core would come up from the ocean floor and when we would reach our first drilling site.

Other news from this week:

We have arrived at our first drilling site! After traveling nearl 2,000 miles across the South Atlantic Ocean, it's time to lower the drill and collect the rocks from the ocean crust that we came all this way to investigate. I'm so excited to see what we discover!
