Sheep, Cows and Compost, Oh My!

Introduction:

Because I live the heart of the city of Belfast, I don't get to see many animals or unique plants on a day-to-day basis. However, my trips around the country have shown me the beauty of Ireland's creatures in all sorts of settings! Ireland is particularly known for its sheep, who are found almost everywhere there are pastures, and whose likeness decorate souvenir shops! I've also seen many cows here, both in natural and farm settings! Something I love about living here is the attention the government pays to encouraging everyone to be environmentally-friendly! I went to an event hosted by the city where lots of strategies for reducing waste were encouraged.

What does this creature or plant look like?:

Irish sheep are just like most sheep found in other parts of the world. They are fluffy and can be black or white. Irish cows are also not very different from the cows we see in America. They are brown, black, white or any combination of these colors, and aren't fluffy like Highland cows in Scotland. There are some fluffy cows in other parts of Ireland, but they aren't native here.

How did I feel when I saw it?:

I love all kinds of animals, so I was very happy to be close to the sheep at the Ulster Folk Museum, and ecstatic to see cows on the coast at Giant's Causeway.
