Everybody in Rio de Janeiro speaks Portuguese, but some people also speak Spanish, English or French. Rio de Janeiro is a big city, so there are people from all over the world here. I bet if I stayed longer I would hear even more languages than the ones I listed above!
Here, they use the Brazilian real (you say it like "ray-all"). When talking about more than one real, you say, reais (you say it like "ray-ice"). One U.S. dollar is worth about four Brazilian reais.
A bottle of water is 3 reais.
I had so many great meals it is hard to choose which was the best. I think my favorite meal (breakfast) was an acai smoothie with granola. Acai is a fruit that is native to Brazil and which looks like a purple berry. Depending on where you are in Brazil, the way you eat acai can be really different. So far, I really like the way they eat it in Rio de Janeiro!
