Similar to the United States, Singaporeans are taught mathematics, science, physical education, art, music, character and citizenship education (CCE), English and sometimes Form Teacher Guidance Period, which is designed to build positive relationships between students and teachers.
Homework is given in primary school similarly to the United States. However, Singaporeans spend a lot more time on homework than their counterparts across the world. Singapore ranks #3 globally for most time spent on homework at almost 9.5 hours per week!
Many of my Singaporean friends tell me they often have little free time with the amount of homework and readings assigned during the school term. Furthermore, many students take part in extra-curricular activities or sports teams. Singapore has many of the same sports as the U.S. and some that are less common, including swimming, basketball, cricket, cross-country, judo, squash, floorball and football (which we call soccer).
