Christmas is very much a family centered holiday whereas for New Year's Eve, most young people will spend time to party with their friends.
School starts around 9am, and depending on what classes Ramona has, can end any time between 4pm-8pm. She takes the bus to and from the university, so it takes her 30 minutes to get there from her home.
Ramona uses a combination of foot and bus travel to get to school. Funnily enough, both she and I find it easier to cross the the river using our nearest bridge to reach the Townhall Busstop where we can get one of the many buses from there. This route is actually quicker than waiting for a bus at a stop closer to our homes. Ramona goes to school by herself.
Ramona usually eats lunch in the Mensa which is the large dining hall on campus. Students get a discount, and the menu varies from day to day; but there is always a warm main dish, a veggie side and a dessert of some kind. Ramona's favorite food is potatoes, so really any dish that has potatoes in it is a winner for her!
Most of the time Ramona speaks German in her classes at the university. However, in her Mandarin Chinese class, the students obviously speak Mandarin Chinese; and with her international friends Ramona will often talk in English. In German, hallo means hello!
