Get to Know Me!

I love being able to communicate with many different people. At Boston College, I also took many classes that would prepare me to go to medical school, and I studied very hard to take the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT), which will help me apply to medical school. I am currently waiting to hear back from medical schools to see if I have been accepted! This means I will study for four more years.

Right now, I am writing to you from Barcelona, Spain. I live with a host family in the barrio (town) of Sarriá in Barcelona. My family and I just finished eating dinner. We ate gazpacho (a tomato soup) and tortilla de patata (a potato and egg dish). My host mother and father are named Lourdes and Pere, and their children are Adriá, Claudia and Carlota. We also have FOUR perros, or dogs! Their names are Enzo, Greta, Bimba, and Tacat.

Finally, you all might be wondering why I am in Barcelona. I love to travel, so I have always tried to go to different places to volunteer or visit. I hope to show you all that you have the chance to do the same one day! After I graduated from college, I decided that I wanted to travel before going to medical school, so I applied to a program called the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. This program helps recent college graduates to go to a different country to study or to be a teacher. So I am here in Barcelona for nine months to do research at a hospital, which means that I will do many experiments to get more information about an illness called Crohn's disease. I promise to explain this more in upcoming journal entries! We are just getting started.

I can't wait to meet you all and to continue sharing.
