This doesn't mean that Barcelona is any better or worse than back home--it just means that people adapt to their surroundings. The important thing is to remember that.
My Spanish co-workers have also introduced me to some of the ways that they like to have fun. Here you can see a picture of me with all of my lab mates. We went to an escape room, which is a very popular way to have fun here. We had an hour to escape a room filled with fun puzzles, and it was medical themed! This is part of the culture, or their perspective: while I have never done an escape room, they find it very popular in Barcelona. In the U.S., we do different things for fun, and this is because we have different ideas of fun that are shaped by the way we grew up, our parents and our friends. It was such a fun and interesting experience. Each person that I work with in the lab has different perspectives to share, too. Some of them are from countries like Brazil, Uraguay, and different parts of Spain. We each have different stories to tell, and I love hearing about their perspectives of the world!
