De Stroopwafels

Introduction:

Like American cousine, food in the Netherlands has influences from all over. There are Vietnamese restaraunts, Greek places, Kebob shops, British pubs, Ethopian restaurants and so many others. When I asked my Dutch friends what food I could try which was really Dutch, they told me to eat stroopwafels

What food did I try?:

I tried stroopwafels. They are delicous, Dutch desserts made out of two layers of thin waffle dough connected by a gooey carmel center. You can buy them in stands on the street or at every grocery store. They are amazing!

How did I feel when I tried it?:

My Dutch friends all told me that I needed to try stroopwafels when I visited the Netherlands. I love dessert and waffles are one of my favorite breakfast foods, so I was really excited to try them.

Stroopwafels are super sweet and a little sticky, so I made a mess when I bit into them, but it was worth it!

How is the food prepared?:

The waffel dough is made from flour, butter, brown sugar, milk and eggs then pressed into thin, round circles and heated on a waffel iron. While the waffel is still warm, you spread the carmel filling across it and press another waffel peice on top, glueing them together.
