I'm working on teaching them the difference between New York, Connecticut, and the U.S. as a whole!
"I know a lot of people speak English, that a lot of people look like Tess, and that a lot of people have a lot of money."
Context - There is a misconception that anyone from the U.S. is wealthy, which, of course, is not true, but considering the difference between $1 USD ($50 pesos) and $1 peso, I can understand why they would think that in a Dominican context.
"What is your favorite food? Would you ever want to visit the Dominican Republic? Can we be friends?"
