I sat down with Connie and Sonia, sisters who are 17 and 14 years old. They're both in secundaria, or high school. Connie is in her 5th and final year, while Sonia is in 2nd grade of secundaria. They are also my "host aunts," as their older sister is my host mom. We chatted about their experiences growing up and living in our town. Read on to learn more!
"For breakfast, we eat lighter foods, such as egg soup, bread, and cheese. We drink tea for breakfast. At lunch, we eat rice and beans, sometimes with meat. For supper, we drink coffee and usually a soup."
The house is a two-story adobe house, like many of the other homes in our town. There are nine rooms. There are 12 kids in the family, so they have a bigger house than most people in town!
"Washing dishes, cleaning the room, feeding the chickens and guinea pigs, and cooking when our Mom isn't home." Sonia and Connie also help out at my host family's restaurant, serving customers and washing dishes.
