Travel News

How far did I travel this week?:

During a typical week, I would go to the closest city located on the southern coast called Eilat. The journey took around 40 minutes by bus—about 50 kilometers. When I hiked with groups we would hike for around 2 to 3 hours on the nearby hiking trails, which would be around 4 to 5 miles for each hike.

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

During my time in Israel, I traveled to cities such as Eilat, Tel Aviv, and Jerusalem. I also visited Timna Park, a national park in the Arava Valley about twenty minutes by car from Kibbutz Ktura, filled with historical copper mines. While going from city to city by bus, I had also seen from afar other kibbutzim in the region and farther north.

How did I get around this week?:

If I wanted to go to places outside of the kibbutz, I almost always took the buses that ran in the area. If I was going out to explore the local environment with a group, I would put on my hiking boots and make sure my water bottle was filled up to the brim.

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

Timna Park was definitely very interesting! It reminded me how old the world is and how much history regions can have.
