What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

My favorite place to visit in Marrakech is the Jemaa el-Fnaa. This bustling square is filled, day and night, with street vendors, fruit stands, restaurants, and even snake charmers. I love trying the tasty foods that the various food stands. For dessert, I usually go to one of the nearby stalls to buy some delicious dates.

Other Travel News from this week:

A fun fact about the region around Marrakech is that they many people that live there do not speak the same language as most other people in Morocco. Many of the people that live in the mountains belong to a people group called the Berbers or Amazigh people. Like the Algonquin tribes that celebrated the first Thanksgiving with the pilgrims, the Amazigh peoples inhabited the mountains of Morocco before the more citiy-dwelling Arabs arrived. Their distinct language and culture is a point of pride for all Moroccans whether or not they claim Amazigh heritage.
