Travel News

How far did I travel this week?:

Last weekend the school had its fall break, so I had the chance to travel to Albania, another country on the Balkan peninsula. Even though Albania is as close to Bulgaria as Miami, Florida, is to Atlanta, Georgia, it took a long time to get there because it is difficult to travel in the Balkans. Part of this is because there aren't many highways and the small roads are often bumpy and curvy since they have to go through the mountains.

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

So far, Albania is the farthest that I have traveled! I have also taken a trip to Romania, where I walked around the capital city Bucharest and visited Dracula's castle in Transylvania, a region of Romania. I also have gotten to see different parts of Bulgaria, such as Sofia, the capital, and cities on the Black Sea coast.

How did I get around this week?:

If I am just doing things around Shumen, I can walk everywhere I need to go. The furthest I had to walk in my city this week was thirty minutes. When I was coming back from my fall break travels though, I had to take a four hour bus ride from the airport back to my city. I also traveled by car this week to visit a nearby village.

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

This week I went to a new coffee shop in Shumen with one of my friends!
