It's hard to choose just one place in la Guajira that I liked the most since it was all so astounding. If I had to choose one, I would have to go with the huge sand-dune beach that led directly into the water. I have never seen anything like that!
The journey back was an interesting one. Since it was muddy, our van got stuck a couple of times, and the ten of us had to get out of the car to push! Later during the drive back, some of the Wayuu children stopped us with rope tolls they had set up. They would often ask the drivers to pay them, for candy, or even sometimes offered to sell artisanal products. One of the car passengers bought a big bag of cactus fruit, which he was kind enough to share with everyone. I had never tasted anything like cactus fruit! It was kind of like watermelon, but less watery and more pungent, which means it tastes stronger.
