I traveled over 8,700 miles from Kentucky to Bangalore! Since arriving in Bangalore, I haven’t done much traveling. I’ve spent my week settling into my room on campus and getting to know the surrounding area. I went to a nearby market. It was about a five-minute taxi cab ride from campus so I will walk there for groceries during my stay.
My journey has just begun, but I hope to eventually travel to many different cities in India.
This week I flew from Kentucky to India. Reaching India took more than 24 hours over the course of three flights! I also used auto-rickshaws to get around Bangalore. Autos are three-wheeled car/motorcycle hybrids. They have a roof but are open on the sides.
I visited a local market area near the NCBS campus this week called Sahakara Nagar (pronounced "saw-ha-ka-na-gar"). There were many women selling flowers in the street, and of course tons of stray dogs.
