Once I arrived in town, my host picked me up in his car to take me home because it was raining. I cannot think of any other type of transportation a Vietnamese person would use on a regular basis.
This past weekend, I visited Da Nang and Hoi An with three fellow American teachers on Fulbright grants. Da Nang is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Vietnam due to its pristine beaches, bridges and urban development comparable to American cities. It is a preferred destination for Westerners who find themselves in Southeast Asia. Hoi An is another tourist destination. Only an hour's drive from Da Nang, my friends and I decided to visit Hoi An to witness its famous shopping center, night market and nightly lantern show.
I recently learned that VietnamAirlines is the only reliable airline in Vietnam. Both of my flights with the cheaper Vietjet were repeatedly delayed. Apparently this is to be expected when flying Vietjet.
