A couple of weeks ago, I was invited to travel from Ciudad Quesada to Limón, a province on Costa Rica's Caribbean coast, to assist professors on a trip for their advanced English grammar students. The trip took about four hours by van, though when you think about it, that's not too far of a drive considering we were going to an area close to the Panama border! We visited several different cities in this area, like downtown Limón and Puerto Viejo, as well as a couple of national parks like Parque Nacional Cahuita and Parque Nacional Manzanillo. This area is famous for its stunning beaches, vibrant colors, abundant wildlife, and delicious cuisine that has its roots in the Afro-Caribbean culture of the region. We went hiking, explored the local markets, enjoyed time swimming in the ocean, and heard student presentations about different aspects of the area’s culture. One of the students on the trip with us was from Puerto Viejo, so he gave us a local’s perspective on the best restaurants and foods we had to try while we were there!
