The main languages spoken in Los Santos, Panama are Spanish and occasionally Ngäbere. Ngäbere is spoken by one of the various indigenous groups in Panama, the Ngäbe people. Although the province of Los Santos doesn’t have a high indigenous population, there are still a few who work and live here.
Although Panama has its own currency, the balboa, the U.S. dollar is widely used in Panama. The dollar and the balboa are exchanged with a one-to-one ratio and used interchangeably.
It depends on the size, but a bottle of water typically costs one dollar. However, smaller bottles can be as low as 50 cents, and where you buy your water raffects the price, too.
The best meal I had this week was one of the many delicious meals I’ve had with my host family, fried plantains with salchicha guisada (sausage with sauce).
I've been listening to a lot of Panamanian típico music (Panama folkloric music), alongside other Latino musicians. I’ve been enjoying the music from the Panamanian rock band, Señor Loop. Their music is great for me when I want to sit back and relax.
