Hey everyone! Today, I want to tell you a little bit about Ukrainian life from the perspective (point of view) of my friend's daughter, Nika. Nika is five years old and goes to kindergarten (sadochik). She speaks Ukrainian/Russian like her mom and dad, but they are teaching her a lot of English too.

First, we drop Nika off at sadochik (kindergarten) at 9:00 a.m. every day. Nika usually eats oatmeal (kasha) and a banana for breakfast. She doesn't like school a lot because she misses her mom and sometimes cries. We drive her there and she sits on her mom's lap in the front seat in the car. Is that common in New York?

Kindergarten is in a separate school in Ukraine and is optional, which means your parents can decide if you want to go or not. Every day, the children at sadochik usually eat borscht (sour soup common in Eastern Europe), sausage and bread for lunch.

Then, we pick Nika up from school at around 12:00 p.m. and she goes to her grandma's house to play with her cousin, Artom and to practice English. Her mom and dad are both English teachers which is great for practicing!
