Have you eaten?

Most Taiwanese people will prepare chicken and not leave any parts out, including the head and legs. After the chicken cooked for a few minutes, we added the rice wine and soy sauce. When it was done simmering, some basil was added on top for extra flavor.

Is this food connected to the local environment? How?:

Like many other foods in Taiwan, this dish is connected to one of their most important crops: rice. The town that I live in, along with most of the surrounding towns, is surrounded by miles and miles of rice fields. Rice not only gets incorporated into many different foods here, like rice wine, rice milk, rice noodles or rice bread, but there are also festivals that celebrate the rice harvest. Three cups chicken is made with rice wine, and it's also usually served with a side bowl of rice!
