This way of garbage collecting also encourages people to take more responsibility for the waste they're producing and encourages them to separate trash, recycling and compost effectively.
Taiwan's method of garbage collecting has definitely met the needs of the community. By having the garbage truck come around almost every day of the week and play the same song every time, people have many opportunities to take their trash out and recognize when the truck is coming. This has also made trash collection part of Taiwanese people's daily lives, which allows them to recognize just how much waste they are producing. Unfortunately the issue of some trash ending up onto the beaches isn't completely solved, but having this trash service has definitely improved the overall state of waste management in Taiwan.
