When I saw fields full of day lilies on the mountain, I was amazed at how bright they were and how many I could see. The scene almost didn't seem real because I had never seen anything like it!
These flowers bloom on Sixty Stone Mountain as well as at a place called Taimali. Sixty Stone Mountain is in the north and Taimali is in the south, but they are both on the east coast of Taiwan.
Day lilies need a lot of sunlight to grow, so their position in the mountains in the direct sunlight helps them bloom at the rate that they do.
Since these flowers only bloom for one day, there aren't very many things that can harm them in the time that they are actually in flower. However, like anything else in nature, these flowers can be harmed by littering and other potential pollutants (things that make the environment dirty). This can be a concern because there are many people who visit the day lilies every year, but the farmers and the town work hard to protect the plant. The flowers are also protected from being picked too heavily in food production.
