How was the weather this week?:

There was a big snowstorm this week! Yesterday, the snow clouds finally left and I was able to go for a walk on the freshly fallen snow. Luckily, the sky stayed clear and I got to see fantastic northern lights last night.

What animals did I see this week? :

It is winter in Iceland, and many birds have migrated somewhere warmer for the coldest months of the year. The common raven stays in Iceland all year round and is very important in Icelandic folklore. The Norse god Óðinn was said to have two ravens, Huginn and Muninn (Thought and Memory in English), which would fly around the world and bring back news to Óðinn.

What was the coolest thing I saw in nature this week?:

I saw the most spectacular northern lights dancing across the sky! The Icelandic word for the northern lights is "Norðurljós", which translates to "Dawn of the North". The Vikings thought that the northern lights were lights reflected off of the armor of the Valkyries, warrior women in Norse mythology.
